HUB - SPEAKER SETUP

The setup diagrams below are designed to provide better sound solutions for your speaker placement.  These setups will help provide better sound reproduction from your speakers for your mixes.

Remember, to achieve more accurate sound from your loudspeakers, you may have to move them around or even place them on table top stands for better performance.

Note:

As you can see, the desk is slightly turned at an angle, away from the corner of the wall.  This is a method that musicians and composers will use in their setup. This will help reduce unwanted bass boost and vibration, which can be bad for mixing your music.

As you can see, this is your unusual desktop setup.  It involves placing the loudspeakers on a desk directly in front of you, away from the wall.  Placing the speakers close to the wall will add a slight bass boost with the rear-firing ports.  Remember that vented/ported speakers should be placed at least 12” from the wall.  As you can see, they are slightly toe-in.  This is only necessary for the EX-4i speakers.

As you can see from the diagram, the left speaker is placed slightly away from the far corner of the wall.  This is often done by musicians and audio engineers.  Using this method helps reduce bass boost or boominess (which can color or distort the sound of your speakers and music tracks), which makes your speaker appear to have more bass (than they have), which does not translate well into your mixes.

ROOM 2 SETUP

 Vented / Bass Reflex Speakers

As you can see, this is your basic desktop setup.  It involves placing the loudspeakers on a desk directly in front of you, close to the wall.  By placing the speakers close to the wall, this method will add a slight bass boost with the rear-firing ports.  Remember that small vented/ported speakers should be placed at least 12” from the wall.  As you can see, they are slightly toe-in.  This is only necessary if you are using the EX-4i speakers.  These speakers are not phase coherent.
