A new MB Speaker in work? After working with the MB Line of speakers, we thought
about devepling a small version of these speakers. This smaller speaker will feature
a 6.5” woofer which is very similar to the larger 8” version found in the MB-
There must be a standard for reproducing quality sound. This is something that we currently find ourselves saying. We have built dozens and dozens of loudspeakers, always looking for something that sounds better. As a loudspeaker manufacture, should we be focus on that only? There should be a standard where we want to improve the sound only, not build something entirely new that doesn’t measure up to our current standards.
This is why we are focusing on building better loudspeakers having standards in how they should sound. A Standard that should only be improve if more sound (larger speakers)is needed. We want users how purchase our loudspeakers to experience the same level of sound that we hear in our listening room when listening to certain audio material.
There will be three loudspeaker models that will features 8” drivers. We think that 8” drivers reproduce the right amount of bass that is needed to fill small size rooms but can maintain the bass and dynamics from audio material that the loudspeakers are being feed with. These speaker can also go into medium sizes without scarifying much of its sound , since large drivers are being used.
Our 5th Generation loudspeakers will surely be a step forward to achieving better
sound reproduction. For our early years in loudspeaker design, we mainly focus on
designing compact speakers (satellite style) using mostly 4 and 5” drivers. These
small monitor speakers were designed for multi-
So the question is, are large speakers really necessary (even by today’s standards), that is a question that cannot be answered with a simple yes or no. It mainly depends on the listener’s preference and his or hers room size. And most important, the type of music that one listens too. The technology that is available today allow manufactures (like us) to design smaller speakers that can achieve the same level of sound as most larger speakers would.
We recently received a driver a while back, not knowing what to expect. It was your typical driver that usual found in bookshelf style loudspeakers. Rubber surround, poly cone and 15 oz magnet in a step frame basket. Your typical 8” driver/ woofer. What makes this driver really unique, is the fact that it is identified as a Mid bass / Mid range driver. What surprise us about this driver was, the sound quality. For such an affordable driver, it reproduced good mid range and solid bass response in a small to mid size enclosure. We drop this diver in a .50 cu ft. 3/4” thick MDF Cabinet and it delivered clear mid range and deep bass response.
What made this really shocking, is the face that the driver is more of a mid-
After performing a number if tests, we realized that this loudspeaker was the type of sound we have been looking for. A loudspeaker that is large enough to give your solid back , but small enough to fit on shelfs in small rooms. Being able to reproduce clean detail sound at moderate levels. A speaker that could be used for listening material, like streaming audio & video content (like YoutTube) and music .
